And if I pick a PSU with 93% efficiency over a 94% unit, what do I lose? Maybe ten cents in electricity savings per year with my ordinary usage?įor me, buy something that isn't the entry level model, something that provides enough power for the given build, and something with a decent warranty. There are no long term reliability ratings for PSUs anyhow. If I want to spend eight hours researching PC components I'll spend more of it on components like the GPU, CPU or motherboard rather than a power supply unit that I would use 5-7 years before replacement. I don't have infinite amounts of free time. The only price tag I frowned at was the Silverstone unit but a high capacity SFX-L unit for that particular build (the one in my system specs) was called for there are limited offerings for that category. I didn't buy the most expensive but I didn't buy the cheapest either. For all apart from the latter H1 unit, I paid a decent sum for each. I could whip out a flashlight and look at the label on the H1 unit but I haven't bothered.
And even if I looked up which OEM manufactured a given unit, what benefit do I get? Do I plug that into a spreadsheet and admire my handiwork for recording minutiae?
